The EPO has published the results for the EQE Main Exam 2017 here. Congratulations to all those who passed at least something - none of the papers are easy, especially when you take into account the stress.
The missing scores at 43, 44, 49, 50 are due to the extra check that is done - if you are just failing, everything you wrote is screened to see if you are "fit-to-practice". If so, extra points are awarded
Paper D
In particular, well-done to those who passed D - it was a difficult paper to get through to the end. The final passing rate is about the same as last year.
Paper C
Well-done passing C - the amount of documents and text you have to deal with always makes this sometime unpredictable.
Paper B
Together with A, this was the first year with the universal technologies. It looks like a success.
Paper A
This was expected to be quite difficult for some technical backgrounds. Of all the distributions, this is the most spread out. On A, the maximum number of points you can score is limited if you begin with a inferior solution - that may explain it to some extent.

Extra feedback for EQE 2010 Re-Sitters (Paper C and D)
Congratulations to those who passed at least something at the EQE 2010. Any exam passed is quite an achievement.
Remember that if you got 45-49 points at EQE 2010, you may not have to resit this paper if you are able to compensate with future attempts.
If you got 44 or less, then you must retake the paper.
For those who unfortunately failed C or D, we offer extra feedback to help face the preparation for EQE 2011.
The feedback from the examination committees is generally not enough to figure out where points were lost - you only get the marks per question as a marking sheet.
Under our Correction of EQE papers program, we offer correction of EQE 2010 C, DI and DII papers at the end of August 2010 to help re-sitters figure out what went wrong. We provide individual comments, suggestions for improvement, our own detailed marking sheet and our proprietary model solutions.

Good Luck on the EQE !!!
- get to the exam on-time
- take a suitcase on wheels for your D library
- don't panic. think simple
the papers are designed so that all 1600 candidates can answer them
- 2010 results are under the new EQE compensation system,
so 45 points is probably enough for 1 or 2 papers

Compensation for re-sitters in EQE 2010
Last week, I was in Munich for the yearly meeting of EQE tutors and the examination committees.
One of the issues explained was the compensation system, and in particular the possibility to retroactively pass individual examinations.
It is probably easiest to explain by examples.
(F): fail / (CF): compensable fail / (P): pass

EQE 2010
From next year, the new EQE regulations apply. It is quite complex, so if you are unsure about something, ask the EQE Secretariaat.
There are some improvements:
There are some improvements:
- No modular system anymore
Sit them in any order and any combination.
Note that if you did A&B in 2009, and C&D in 2010 (all for first time), you can either use the old system or the new system
- Compensation applied at every sitting
Although you cannot compensate a failed paper from the past, it does mean that if you resit, it is no longer necessary to get 50 points or more
Exception: if you did A&B in 2009, and C&D in 2010 (all for first time), you can use the old system and compensate a compensable fail for A and/or B with good scores in C & D.
- No translation required for the C-paper
The whole paper, including all documents will be provided in all 3 languages
